Renowned for their vibrant food colourings, edible glitters, lustres and decorating essentials, the brand has built a strong reputation for innovation, quality and helping customers create stunning edible masterpieces.

As their product range and customer demand continued to grow, Rainbow Dust partnered with Belmont Packaging to develop a stronger, more efficient packaging solution that would better protect their products throughout the supply chain while maintaining the distinctive branding their customers recognise.

RAINBOW DUST LOGOO

The brief

Rainbow Dust approached Belmont Packaging looking to improve the durability and performance of their existing packaging for their pro-gel products. Their original boxes were manufactured from folding carton board, but as demand grew and distribution requirements changed, they needed a stronger solution that would better protect their products during transport while maintaining an attractive retail appearance.

In addition to increasing the strength of the packaging, Rainbow Dust also wanted to improve the functionality of their shelf-ready packaging (SRP). They had experienced issues with the tops of the packs not tearing away cleanly, making them less effective for retail display.

PRO GEL 2

The solution

To address the issues Rainbow Dust UK were experiencing, Belmont Packaging redesigned the packaging using E-flute corrugated board, creating a stronger, more durable solution that offered improved protection throughout storage and distribution.

A key focus of the redesign was enhancing the functionality of the shelf-ready packaging. We engineered a reliable easy-tear feature, allowing the top of the SRP to be removed quickly and cleanly, creating a neat, professional retail display and eliminating the tearing issues experienced with the previous design.

The boxes were manufactured with a crash-lock base, enabling faster and more efficient assembly during packing, while a 2-colour flexographic print maintained the bold, recognisable Rainbow Dust branding. The result is a robust, retail-ready packaging solution that combines strength, ease of use and excellent shelf presence, without compromising on production efficiency or recyclability.
